Hardwood Flooring

There are 3 basic categories of hardwood:

Unfinished Hardwood

  • Boards 2 ¼”, 3 ¼”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 7 ¼” wide ¾” thick
  • Can be installed on or above grade
  • Can often match existing hardwood flooring dimensions for repair or addition
  • Custom stained on site
  • Can be woven in to existing flooring to repair damage/missing areas
  • Can be sanded and refinished several times
  • Once 2 or 3 coats of finish are applied, you have one smooth even surface
  • Choice of Swedish or water-based finish
  • Coordinating flooring vents, moldings and trims available

 

Prefinished Hardwood

  • Board widths from 2 ¼ to 8” usually ¾” thick
  • Can be installed on or above grade
  • Available in micro-beveled and beveled edges
  • Factory stained and harder finished surface
  • Less dust/mess
  • Low odor/VOCs
  • Coordinating molding and trims available

 

Engineered Hardwood

  • Boards widths 3 ¼ to 7” and various thickness are available
  • Structural integrity and dimensional stability
  • Can be installed on, above and below grade (basements)
  • Installation methods-nail, staple, glue, float
  • Coordinating moldings and trims available
  • Some species radiant heat approved
  • Typically 15 to 25 year residential warranty
  • Shaw’s EPIC is made with recycled material in USA
